Many miss the key of building a good relationships with people we know or network with. I personally believe in building relationships will build a good foundation on trust and business. We are not made to stand alone and be the king of the world but we are to network with the people we met in of path as some became friends, business partners, clients, lovers and etc.

The important thing to remember is to keep your contacts in look of what you up to and send them a sms, email or call will show them that you are committed to building a relations with the company they work for and secondly with the person on a personal level. Don’t miss the most important key in your life, that is to build a good relationship with people because we sometimes live in the “shadow of the future”
Which mean that what we do now will effect us along the line so it keeps us accountable.

When I started with mediation I thought of as to fecilitate and make parties understand there rights. I soon realise it’s not just about facilitating the process but it’s about understanding the interest and need of the both parties. Get to the truth of the matter and not the person. It’s hard for people to come to the table because they will always come with their own rules and “if nots”.

Create a neutral space for communication and your parties to feel comfortable. It’s not how good you speak it’s about taking the parties interest in consideration. It’s not about using the best person to present you but the mediation process that allow things to come to the surface.

We all know how long you have to wait for court dates and it is frustrating to know you, you will only get a date in the next six months. The case get submitted my the attorney and then the judge review it and then it gets dated six months along the line when you have to be away from work when you could have had a medaition session. Mediation is simple for the person that mediate and it takes you away from work when the mediator is at work but it brings fast results and keep the cost low.

Mediation differ from ligitation and arbitration or being in a court room. You don’t have to bring cases of files and documents into a mediation session only the document the is needed for the current case at hand. It’s not about who prevail over the other but its about coming to an agreement and settlement. Mediation gives you the free to talk and say your say.

Introduction

We have grouped these strategies and practices into one of the following categories:

• Management commitment

• Teachers involvement

• Communication

• Education and training

• Injury reporting and treatment

• Return to work (transitional work practices)

• Safety audits and inspections

Management commitment

The key to success lies in the organization’s culture. What importance does top administration place on safety? Commitment from the superintendent, treasurer and school board is critical. Some school board members may be experienced business people with a solid understanding of teachers safety and workers’ compensation. When available, take advantage of this experience. All schools surveyed agree at least one key individual needs to be committed to safety and workers’ compensation. Accountability is vital. Assign someone the responsibility for safety, provide him or her with the tools, training and authority to act, and then hold him or her accountable. Once commitment to safety is in place with top administration, address safety responsibilities and accountability within each facility and across all departments. Include teachers safety measures in the performance-review process. Set safety goals, communicate expectations, establish performance measurements and hold people accountable.

Teacher’s involvement

All school I have spoke to personal stress the importance of teacher’s involvement

in the teachers safety process. In addition, all of the school districts use some form of a

safety committee or safety team. Organization of teams and how they operate vary from

school to school. One school district includes only classified teachers on its team, while another school district includes members of the community on its team. Perhaps the most effective team includes certified and classified teachers, union presidents from both groups, principals, supervisors and a member of the school board as well as from the community. Effective teams have a well-defined purpose. They have good decision-making skills and the authority to act on their decisions. They consider meetings high priority and make all necessary accommodations to allow each member to attend. Effective teams emphasize shared decision making. They use input and feedback from the entire committee when possible. Involvement in safety activities is so important, these schools are willing to pay overtime, rearrange schedules or provide substitutes to allow teachers to participate. The activities and responsibilities of each safety committee/team vary.

Safety education and training

All school teacher’s I spoke to stress the importance of safety education and training.

Safety education and training begins with the top administration. Often, however, top

administration does not fully understand workplace safety issues or the workers’ compensation

system. As one school administrator put it, “You first have to educate the educators.”

Our safety services specialists are available to meet with you to discuss your workers’

compensation history, analyze your practices and recommend improvements. Our safety consultants are available to meet with you to analyze safety culture and practices, and recommend improvements. In addition, there is a multitude of Safety training courses available to help you better understand workers compensation and safety-management strategies.

Safety education and training for teachers — principals, assistant principals, supervisors,

teachers, counselors, caretakers, etc. — are just as important

Injury reporting and treatment

First, formalize the injury reporting and treatment process. Document it in writing. Then

ensure it is well communicated and understood by all teachers of the school. And

make sure injured teachers report all injuries, no matter how minor, to their person in charge. Consider specifying the time frame for reporting injuries in your policy (within 24 hours). Provide the necessary contact names and phone numbers to allow for this communication. Ensure the injured teacher receives proper medical treatment. Following an accident, immediately conduct an accident analysis (investigation). Identify the person responsible for conducting accident analyses. This person may differ from district to district. Typically, the injured teacher immediate supervisor, the safety coordinator, member(s) of the safety committee or a combination of these people, conduct accident analyses. Provide comprehensive training for all persons that will conduct accident analyses.

Return to work/transitional work

Some schools confirm the importance of an effective return-to-work process. This

is perhaps the single most effective claims-management strategy available. Most schools

seem to handle return to work on an informal, case-by-case basis and have no formal agreement with the union(s) or contract language on return to work. However, all schools work closely with their union(s) on all return-to-work cases. The study also found most school districts only return an injured teacher to a job within the teacher’s original job classification.

Safety audits (inspections)

Most schools indicated they conduct a comprehensive safety audit of each

building at least annually as part of their safety process. If your school district doesn’t conduct regular safety audits, Our safety consultants are available to assist you with developing and implementing a safety audit process. The primary purpose of a safety audit process is to identify and correct potential safety hazards before an injury occurs. Audits should focus on both unsafe conditions and unsafe behaviors.

Challenges

Some schools clearly demonstrate they can effectively manage teachers safety in schools and have experienced impressive results from their efforts. However, each of these schools was quick to point out that managing teachers safety in schools poses some significant challenges.

Time

Funding

Competing priorities

Overcoming challenges

Final word

Implementing an effective safety process will reduce injuries, keep experienced

teachers on the job, cut costs, improve morale and ultimately enhance the schools mission

of educating students
